I zone, Mississauga: I Zone (Institutional - Hospital and University/College)

Section 12.2.2, Table 12.2.2 of the City of Mississauga Zoning By-law 0225-2007, as amended by 0325-2008, 0111-2019/LPAT Order 2021 March 09.

A zone for hospitals and universities or colleges, where all buildings must be set back at least 7.5 m from every lot line and a 4.5 m landscaped buffer is required.

Other provisions in this section

  • Minimum landscaped buffer: 4.5 m (Table 12.2.2 row 7.0); see also Subsection 2.1.25 (buffer may be reduced to 0.0 m abutting a sight triangle or 0.3 m reserve abutting a sight triangle; not required along a shared driveway/aisle/parking portion of a shared lot line).
  • All buildings and structures must also comply with Parts 1 to 3 and Subsection 12.2.1 (General Provisions for Institutional Zones).
  • Accessory uses permitted in an I zone (12.2.1.1, 0111-2019/LPAT Order 2021 March 09): medical office, office, staff/student residence, restaurant, take-out restaurant, financial institution, retail store, service establishment, cogeneration facility.
  • Site-specific exception zones I-1 to I-5 exist (Section 12.2.3); refer to Article 1.1.2.3 and the exception schedules.
  • Table 12.2.2 states no lot area, lot frontage, height, lot coverage, floor space index or landscaped-area standard for the I zone.
