Other provisions in this section

  • Uses not permitted in CU (Table 11.2): business office, commercial parking area, dormitory, hospital, long term care facility, medical office, public works yard, post-secondary school, retirement home.
  • Cemetery permitted only where the use legally existed on the lot on the effective date of the By-law (Table 11.2 footnote 1).
  • Day care and private school permitted only on a lot abutting an arterial road or major collector road; this does not apply to a day care or private school accessory to a place of worship or public school (Table 11.2 footnote 2, 2015-018).
  • Outside storage permitted accessory to an emergency service facility; Section 10.6 applies except Section 10.6(c) (Table 11.2 footnote 3).
  • Place of worship: a dwelling for the faith group leader is additionally permitted, with a maximum of five lodging units within the dwelling (Table 11.2 footnote 4).
  • Place of worship: maximum lot area 2.5 hectares (Table 11.2 footnote 5).
  • Public hall permitted only accessory to a place of worship; maximum persons occupancy equal to the persons occupancy of the place of worship's area of worship (Table 11.2 footnote 7).
  • Section 5.1.3 (calculating minimum parking) does not apply where a place of worship occupies at least 50% of the total net floor area on a lot; on such a lot the minimum parking for all uses is calculated using the place of worship requirement (Table 11.2 footnote 8, PL140317).
  • Emergency shelter permitted only accessory to another permitted use (Table 11.2 footnote 9, PL140317).
  • A scattering ground for cremated remains (e.g. a memorial garden) is permitted accessory to a place of worship (Table 11.2 footnote 10, 2024-111).
  • Interior side yard and rear yard may be 0.0 m where abutting a lot in any Institutional (I) or Community Use (CU) Zone (Table 11.3).
  • Maximum height is the height legally existing on the lot on the effective date of the By-law; new buildings constructed after that date have no maximum height (Table 11.3 footnote 1).
