OG zone, Toronto: Open Space - Golf Course Zone

Section 90.40 (Chapter 90 Open Space) of the City of Toronto Zoning By-law 569-2013, as amended by 1153-2023, 1774-2019.

An open space zone for golf courses and parks, allowing limited clubhouse, recreation, food and small retail uses only when combined with a park or golf course, with low buildings set well back from all lot lines.

Other provisions in this section

  • Section 90.40 applies to all lands, uses, buildings and structures in the OG zone (90.40.1.10(1)).
  • Amusement arcade must be combined with a park or golf course and may have no more than 12 amusement devices (90.40.20.100(1)).
  • Club, eating establishment, education use, place of assembly or recreation use must be combined with a park or golf course (90.40.20.100(2)).
  • Cogeneration or renewable energy production must be combined with another permitted use on the lot and comply with all municipal, provincial and federal laws (90.40.20.100(3)).
  • Outdoor patio must be combined with an amusement arcade, club, place of assembly, recreation use or take-out eating establishment on the same or an abutting lot that permits an outdoor patio (90.40.20.100(4)(A)).
  • Outdoor patio must be at least 10.0 m from a lot in the Residential or Residential Apartment Zone category; if above the first storey, at least 40.0 m measured horizontally (90.40.20.100(4)(B),(C)).
  • A lawfully existing outdoor patio closer than 10.0 m / 40.0 m to a residential lot keeps its lawful distance as its minimum (90.40.20.100(4)(D)).
  • Outdoor patio entertainment (performances, music, dancing) allowed only if the patio is not above the first storey and the entertainment area does not exceed the greater of 10% of the patio area or 5.0 m2 (90.40.20.100(4)(E), By-law 1153-2023).
  • Personal service shop, retail store, service shop or take-out eating establishment must be combined with a park or golf course and have interior floor area no greater than 500 m2 (90.40.20.100(5), By-law 1774-2019).
  • Category-wide Open Space regulations in Section 90.5 and general regulations in Chapter 5 also apply; lot frontage/area/coverage values may be carried as zone-label suffixes or overlay maps rather than in this section.
