DC1 zone, Brampton: Downtown Commercial One
Section 28.2 of the City of Brampton Zoning By-law 270-2004, as amended by 266-2006, 204-2010.
A downtown Brampton commercial zone for shops, offices, restaurants and similar street-front businesses, with apartments allowed above ground-floor commercial space, where setbacks and heights are set by Schedules B-1 to B-4 and all parking must be in a parking garage.

- A bank, trust company, or financial company, but not including a drive-through facility
- An office
- A dry cleaning and laundry distribution station, but not including a drive-through facility
- A laundromat, but not including a drive-through facility
- A parking lot
- A dining room restaurant, a convenience restaurant, or a take-out restaurant, none of which shall include a drive-through facility
- A printing or copying establishment
- A commercial school
- A temporary open air market
- A place of commercial recreation
- A community club
- A health or fitness centre
- A theatre
- An art gallery or studio
- A hotel or motel
- An animal hospital
- An administrative office of any public authority
- An apartment dwelling, provided the first-storey floor area within 6.0 metres of the streetline is used for commercial purposes (entrances and lobbies allowed if they occupy no more than 30% of the wall facing the street line)
- A place of worship
- Purposes accessory to the other permitted purposes

Other provisions in this section
- Prohibited uses (28.2.2): adult video store, adult entertainment parlour, amusement arcade, body art and/or tattoo parlour, massage or body rub parlour
- Apartment dwellings only permitted where the first-storey floor area within 6.0 m of the streetline is commercial; entrances and lobbies may occupy no more than 30% of the wall facing the street line (28.2.1(b))
- Maximum streetline setbacks as shown on Schedule B-1 (28.2.3(b))
- Windows and doors at grade: on any wall adjacent to a streetline subject to Condition A on Schedule B-1, at least 70% of the gross area of the wall below 4.6 m above grade must be windows and/or doors (28.2.3(e))
- Minimum building height (Schedule B-3) applies only to the portion of the building within 12.0 m of any streetline (28.2.3(f))
- Articulated roofs: the highest point of the roof must be at least 2.0 m higher than where the roof meets any exterior wall (28.2.3(g))
- Rooftop mechanical equipment must be at least 5 m from any exterior wall and occupy no more than 35% of the roof area (28.2.3(h))
- All motor vehicle parking on a lot must be within a parking garage (28.2.3(i)(i))
- No above-grade portion of a parking garage may be within 6.0 m of any exterior wall adjacent to a streetline (28.2.3(i)(ii))
- No setback from any lot line is required for the below-grade portion of a parking garage (28.2.3(i)(iii))
- No portion of a parking garage may be closer to an interior side or rear lot line than any other building on the lot (28.2.3(i)(iv))
- Any portion of a building 15.0 m or greater above grade with windows for a dwelling unit must be at least 6.0 m from an interior side or rear lot line (28.2.3(j))
- Outdoor display and sale of goods permitted as an accessory use if the display area is publicly accessible and occupies no more than 25% of the gross floor area of the use it is accessory to (28.2.3(k))
- Loading, unloading and waste disposal facilities may not be on the wall facing, or in the yard adjacent to, a Residential Zone or a public road (28.2.3(l))
- All garbage, refuse and waste containers must be in a climate controlled area within the same building containing the use (28.2.3(m))
