A zone for townhouses (street townhouses and block townhouses) on lots of at least 6 m width and 162 m² per unit, with setbacks that vary depending on whether the lot is a standard lot, a lot accessed by a lane, a lot on a private/common element road, or a whole block.

Other provisions in this section

  • Table 7-7 sets separate values for four lot situations: Standard Lot, Accessed by a Lane, Private Road or Common Element Road, and Block; identify the lot type before applying the standards.
  • Where a private garage faces a front lot line or an exterior side lot line, the minimum setback to the private garage is 5.7 m (Table 7-7 footnote 1).
  • Minimum interior side yard is 3.5 m where the interior side lot line abuts a walkway, greenway or stormwater management facility (Table 7-7 footnote 2).
  • Minimum interior side yard is 3.0 m where abutting a road, lane, common element road or a sight triangle (Table 7-7 footnote 3).
  • Community garden, model home, temporary sales office, home occupation, secondary suite and short-term rental are subject to the specific use provisions of Part 5 (Table 7-6 footnote 2).
  • Table 7-6 footnote 1 (use permitted only where a dwelling unit fronts on to a public road) is defined for the RT/RM table but is not flagged against any RT1 use in the transcribed column.
  • Apartment dwelling, multiple-unit townhouse dwelling, podium townhouse dwelling, retirement residence and supportive living facility are not permitted in RT1.
  • Table 7-7 states no maximum height, minimum lot depth, landscaped open space, FSI or parking standard for RT1; see Part 4 general provisions and Part 6 parking for those.
